Is it possible for me to move the admin folder into a folder protected by ssl or would that be an issue. If yes, what files do i need to move

All you need to do is provide the URL for your secure server in the Shop Configuration and the Admin will automatically open using a secure connection.

Just do a search for SSL after entering the Shop Config File from the Admin menu and it should bring up where you need to input the info.
