Update...

Ok we re-coded vp-asp so it adds the titles and meta tags as explained earlier. We are not hitting top 5 for most ot the searchwords contained in our page titles (over 1000 pages with titles) When I say top 5, I dont mean we got a page in the top 5, I mean we got all pages in the top 5! some 4 out of 5 some 4 out of the top ten but we are getting mulitple webpage listing on each search word.

Regarding ISAPI rewrites, I have been thinking of doing this for some time, but it's something that needs to be co-ordinated with your provider.

Has anyone actually implemented this successfully?

Which software did you use?

How willing was your hosting provider to do it?

I run my own servers so, it makes it easy for me. As far as what am I useing, the charts come from an old stats program I picked up years ago. The point was that I think we have talked about what is important to get your website at least listed correctly in a search engines. If you pages are designed right you can turn those visitors into purchasing clients. It took me from begining of december to now to get it right. I am only talking about it here to help other (who better not be competitors!) save time and to help them completely enjoy the VP-ASP Platform. It is a great platform, now we have to gear everything to selling products. A website will only go so far. Does anyone have any other ideas on marketing a website other then search engines?

Are you talking free or paid?
TV, Radio, Directories, Deep Linking, Advertisement on other websites, the list goes on and on.... depending on whether or not you are talking about free advertising or paid.

An alternative to an ISAPI rewrite, we performed two things.

1. For those with not too many products, you can rewrite your pages using javascript and interface it in with the shopaddtocartnodb.asp in order bring the products into the cart.

2. For those ASP writers, you can rewrite the code so that it doesn't use sessions in the foreground of the website. This will make all of your pages dynamic however friendly enough that people can save each page in their favorites

I use linkfreeze, from www.isapirewrite.com, it rewrites the URL, It is hosted on my server, so I had no problem installing.
