Is there a way to control the display sequence of products within shopdisplayproducts.asp. The default sequence is alpahabetical. I don't want products displayed this way.
I have a number of product sub categories and wish to control the sequencee in which the sub categories get displayed. I dont want subcategories displayed alphabetically either. I want them to appear in a predefined sequence. eg Most popular subcategories first.
eg If I have Sub categories A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H But I want products to be displayed as: F, G, A, H, C, D, B, E
Is this possible?

Hi,
I can't understand exactly what type of criteria you need. I guess I'm trying to do something similar. I need to display the most visited cats, subcats and products. So I'm making a counter for each one. Also sql statements have to be changed. No result by now but I keep my fingers crossed.
Regards

Hi jmccann!
Yes, its possible...and actually pretty easy. Under the cart administration configuration, set xsortproducts to the name of a product field you would like to use to control the order. I wanted ultimate control over the ordering independent of any other value already in the product record, so I selected an otherwise unused field and placed my own 2 digit numbers in the field to force it to give exactly the ordering I wanted. I used the pother1 field (set xsortproducts="pother1"), but you can use whatever you like.
I used 2 digit numbering to give me plenty of room for future expansion. The sort is character by character by default (non-numeric) so 2 actually comes after 10. However, 02 comes before 10. (You could use letters to make this clearer). I spaced out my numbering to allow for future products to be interspersed in between. For the product I want first, I put "10" in the pother1 field. For the product I want second, I put "20" in the pother2 field...and so on. Later if I decide to add another product that needs to go betwee the first and second, I can number it "15"
Hope this helps...
Nathan
