Has anyone solved this problem?
What I have is something similar to this....
I have a T-Shirt, and you can order it with the red stripe or the green stripe. Now, the red and green stripe option is lised in the features table.

How can I stop showing the red stripe option when I run out of the T-shirts with red stripes? Therefore only showing the T-Shirt available in the green stripe?

Someone has to have come upon this issue and solved it right?
Can anyone suggest the best method to approach this?

Thanks
JP

Hi Japes,

We have created a mod that allows you to get around the feature issue with stock control.

http://www.bluepet.co.uk/shopdisplayproducts_dogs.asp?id=57&cat=Cool+Stuff

Basically the way it works is that it allows you to set a parent product and under that any number of child products. The child products being the product variations.

If any child product runs out of stock it will either stop displaying or display the out of stock message.

You can have weight and their own sku applied to each child product as well.

You can display as in the BluePet site with the parent product at the top with the child products listed underneath or you can display with the parent product only showing and the child products displaying as a drop down list.

http://www.hypnoskates.com/shop/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=18&cat=Specials

We have implemented this into a large number of VPASP sites now. If you want further info please feel free to contact us at http://www.vpasp.com/sales/shopcustcontact.asp.

Thanks,
Cam

JP-

The new version of VP-ASP coming out soon has this feature built in. It is called "Inventory control using a new concept of inventory products." Check out this link for more information on the new version:
http://www.vp-asp.com/virtprog/vpasp550_planning.htm

In the meantime, you can just create separate products for each feature such as "T-Shirt with red stripe" and "T-Shirt with with Green stripe" Of course, if you have multiple sizes of each, your product listing can start to get cluttered. That's why I would create a category for each type of stripe, and then list all the possible sizes for that style under the category. You will then likely want to customize the "Red stripe" category page to look like a product listing with a full intro at the top using catextra and xdisplaycategoryfiles. All this gets pretty cumbersome, but it will give you something that works. The good news is I think the separate products you create for each stripe pattern will be re-used when you go to the new v5.5 version to implement the new feature there.

I have the same issue.

Don't know if I can wait for the release of the new version tho.
Would anyone have a little how-to in how to get this setup or know of anyone that would know?
Maybe you greatphoto???
Has anyone got a piece of code they might be willing to share? I can do some coding myself but can't afford the price of getting a professional in to do it.

Thanks
Tim
