Hi,

I got a real problem with the secure Downloads facility in the VPASP5 option pack. It seems that the download files need to be on the same physical server as the sopping cart and you cannot specify a www or ftp address in the Download field in the products table. VPASP support has confirmed this despite their documentation stating that "any valid URL" will work.

Does anyone have any idea how I can get the secure downloads facility to work when the download files are located on another server?

I'm not sure if/how you can get something like that working from another server. But, what you could do is put the files into a secure/non-browsable directory above your www area.

I'd guess that using a different server for the downloads from the site that holds the orders is a non-starter because they should be on the same site (I'd be very worried if we had a site which could download from another site, even if they were both ours)

There are some restrictions, but if you want to deal with those restrictions then you can use this addon for multiple-file downloads, labelling, and other enhancements:
