I have VPASP 7 SP1 installed on well established sites. I''m using SEO Dynamic pages and have for several years now.

I have ''hidden'' a large number of old items which are discontinued. Now I am getting 404 and 500 errors in the hundreds. I''ve resubmitted a new sitemap but Google seems to be crawling the old discontinued items.

I''ve hidden products and categories before but never had any 404 errors. What has changed? I thought the SEO Dynamic Module took care of the 301 redirects for hidden and deleted items.

Anyone else having these problems recently?

Is there something I can modify to get the DEO Dynamic Module to use 301 redirects?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks .. Dale

Dear Dale,

Our latest SEO module should have fixed the 404/500 errors for old links.

Our SEO module is available at :
http://www.vpasp.com/virtprog/seotoolkit.htm

Another alternative is if your VPASP version is deluxe, you can download our latest VPASP pack.

Go to login page :
https://www.vpasp.com/sales/shopcustadminlogin.asp

Once on the Customer Admin page please click on the Review Previous Orders link.

You will then see a list of your orders. the link for the order you wish to download the software.

Click on the Order Number to view the page details.

At the top of the page you will see a link to download the software.

You will just need to get the latest three files below from our latest VPASP pack:

- shopexd.asp
- shopseosubs.asp
- admin/shopa_generateseodynamicsubs.asp

If you do not have any custom code on the above files, you can just simply overwrite them.
However, if you have customized any of these files, you will need to use a program such as Winmerge (http://winmerge.sourceforge.net) which allows you to compare the differences between your files.

Once uploaded the files, you will also need to regenerate your dynamic SEO from the administration.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.

Thank you Wilson:

I do have the the Deluxe version but it is over 12 months old.

I actually need to pay a $399 update fee to download a ''fix'' for your faulty SEO Module? That sure doesn''t seem right.

Right now your SEO Module is ruining my search engine ranking. Wouldn''t you think a HUGE bug fix like this should be available at no charge?

thankyou

Hi Dale,

Sorry about this.

Search engines, browsers and other tools change their methods unfortunately on a very regular basis.

We do our best to keep up and provide these updates to our customers as a free update for their valid license period.

We also offer the SEO Toolkit as a separate module which may be an alternative to renewing your license:

http://www.vpasp.com/virtprog/seotoolkit.htm

Just checking your last order and it seems to be from 2009 so many changes have been made since then both to how Google works and to VPASP unfortunately.

If you post a ticket in our helpdesk our support team can check your version and see if the latest SEO Toolkit will into your site or whether some tweaks will need to be made.

Thank you
