Hi All,

I'd like to redevelop our store from scratch and would like to be able to play with a second live version of the VPASP store while the current store continues running.

Is it possible to set this up so I can redevelop the site prior to migrating, while being able to view modifications live on my developing site?

Hi there,

You can easily do this.

If you want to use a fresh database then it is just a matter of installing to a sub domain ideally and going through the install wizard.

The main thing you need to be aware of is the Shop ID needs to be different from your main store Shop ID when going through the wizard.

Or do you want both sites to use the one database?

Thank you.

Thanks Cam. Ideally, I'd like just to use the same DB. I don't want to edit any products in the new development, just play around with the sites layout and the manner in which existing products display. Is that possible?

I would probably recommend creating a new copy of the database and playing with that to ensure you do not cause any issues to the main db.

You can run multiple stores off the one database but there are a few things you need to do to set it up and you do need to be very careful.

Thank you.
