Hi
I cannot find where to set the session time for the administrator. At the moment when I am in the store Admin I get session timeout anywhere from almost immediatley to a few minutes.

Fine for me I do my HTML in Dreamweaver then copy paste the code in the HTML editor, but when I hand over to the customer in a couple of days this is going to drive him nuts.

Hi there,

You need to contact your host and ask them to set the default timeout to 20 minutes. it sounds like they have it set to recycle very quickly.

Thank you.

Create an ASP page on your site and place the following code:

<% = Session.Timeout() %>

This will give you the default ASP Session Timeout on the webserver.

If you still observe session timeouts despite a 20 minute session.timeout setting, ask your host to check the application pool recycle settings.

The shopping cart consumes quite some memory. The application pool can be recycled whenever a set amount of memory is consumed. Unselect the check box "Maximum used memory" to avoid repeating resets and thus loss of session and application variables.

Thanks for the tips.

PD; Session time is 10minutes, if we get the full ten minutes we can work with thta but I'll ask for more.

Erik; The shop seems to go out of memory quite regularly on this host, so I set the appool to recycle every 60minutes and we'll see how it goes.

The only way I was able to fix this issue was to get a dedicated server. Most virtual hosting packages will not allow you to modify the default Application Pool.

My application was resetting every 30 seconds or so. Pretty bad and the hosting company said no to changes.

I created a new Application Pool named after my website.
Settings for new AppPool:

Disable Overlapped Recycle : False
Disable Recycling for Configuration Changes: False
Private Memory Limit (KB): 0
Regular Time Interval (minutes): 1740
Request Limit: 0
Specific Times: The array is empty
Virtual Memory Limit (kb): 0

This setup has worked flawlessly for the past 5 months.
