The Facebook App viruses seem to be gathering momentum the last few months, and the more people they catch out, the worse the apps seem to become.
If anyone has ever visited Facebook while on your company pc/laptop, you absolutely must read this:

Facebook itself is great, personally, and for business, but you need to be REALLY careful about Apps.
If you don't even know what a Facebook App is, but you've used facebook in the past, then you still need to read the link above because you've probably already signed-up to an App without even knowing about it, and if you haven't signed-up then you still need to know how this works because one of your friends probably has.

Hi,
yep; the "hide all stories from 21questions/socialcam/yahoo..." option when you mouse-over the top-right of all those spam/scam posts that you see on your news-feed is very handy.
"fred smith [your real friend] answered a question about you, see what your friends have said..."
"fred smith [your real friend] watched this video of 2 women in skimpy bikinis fighting in a mud bath, click here to view it..."
"picture of the day is..."
etc etc
just choose the "hide all from..." option (which comes up on the top-right of those posts when you mouse-over the post) when you see that kind of stuff in facebook, and don't allow access to apps; 99% of it is just lies and a bunch of viral advertising scams.
if you want to share a video/pic/story with your friends on facebook, then just paste/share the link to it; the app option is totally bogus, and just a scam.
personally I think facebook will regret letting the scammers run-riot with this stuff; facebook might get a lot of money in the short term, but in the long term it'll drive people off apps completely. by allowing apps to scam/spam people, and by letting them get away with some really dodgy practices, facebook will pretty much kill their apps income stone-dead once everyone realises what's going on.
