Hi all,

Has anyone moved VPASP from MSSQL 2008 to the MySQL? I'm being forced to switch web hosting company to a dedicated server and I really don't want to purchase another MSSQL server license.

My current hosting company (1and1) says that the VPASP is not optimal and my application tool keeps hitting session limits and the server recycles it affecting website visitors and showing "unauthorized administrator" all the time. They don't want to make changes to my application pool so I'm leaving them

any help will be appreciated.

Hi PD,

1and1 are not overly helpful I must admit sometimes.

We offer SQL 2008 on our hosting if you want to trial our hosting.

Alternatively we might be able to help with migrating your data. If interested in a quote please submit a request into our helpdesk at:

Thank you.

I wanted to update this topic and let everyone one what I had done.

I got a dedicated server and was able to downgrade from Full MSSQL to MSSQL Express. I installed MSSQL Express 2012 and was able to do a backup of SQL 2008 and a restore into my new 2012. After adjusting the connection string which is different for SQL Express, I was able to migrate the website with no issues. All VPASP settings were retained and I'm very happy with the new speed and performance of a dedicated server. A shared hosting from 1and1 is a bad idea for an SQL intensive application like VPASP.
