Would it be possible to use the barcode number as part of the product somewhere and then get the packing slip to print the barcode next to each product?

We can then scan this when packing and it would automatically remove the item from our stock.

Changing the packing slip to output an image next to each product (ie a bar code image rather than just the product thumbnail) would be relatively easy to do, but the issue is more that you'd need some special software that can convert a barcode number into an image file.

If you had some software on the site/server which can do that, then you could setup a fairly basic admin job which goes through all your barcode numbers and generates all the barcode images using a naming convention (eg "images/barcodes/catalogidx_barcodey.png") and then you could get the slip to check the product and display the corresponding barcode image (if it exists).

We do something similar, but have the order number printed as a barcode.

Don't mess with images as it becomes a nightmare, instead get one of the free barcode fonts and simply print the number you want in that font.

Easy five minute job.
