Can you explain a bit about what you are needing?
My first thought was just to create a category called New Products and only add new products to that specific category but that seems a bit too easy....so I might be missing the visual of what you are trying to do

bengreen, that sounds to me an easy one.

my solution can be :
1. create a new category called "new products".
2. assign your products that you think are new, to that "new products" category.
lets take a sample, product 123 already assigned to category Food. and then you assign to another new category "new products". product 123 now have 2 categories assigned "food" and "new products".
3. i assume when you click that category "new products", that should list with all the new products from your chosen products.

if mine is wrong to your question, i m glad to help you with other options.
i think vpasp is still flexible till now.

warm regards,
Diego.
