A quick question.

If we decide to upgrade to v7 can we upgrade the database and then still have sites running v6.5 using it?

I can't see any reason why we can't but I want to double check.

I did this and support had to modify the code for v6.5 to run properly without errors.
They advise against doing this.

I would just copy your Database and design your site.
Make a note of any changes inside the control panel to reproduce them later.

It's not my favorite way of doing things because you would have reproduce a lot of things in a hurry to bring up the new site.

That has been my experience, anyone else?

Jorge

Hi Jorge,

Thanks for the swift reply.

I thought as much. Our main problem is that we have 13 sites so it's not going to be possible for all the sites to have the modifications.

Looks like it's plan B (whatever that is going to be).

Better you copy the whole live site to a development server, and a copy of live db for development and then try to upgrade to v7.00.

That should be the best before it happens to the live environment,

Diego.
