I have a feature, selectlist set up to allow the buyer to select a Tee, a sweatshirt for $6 more or a hoodie for $8 more.

It use pother2 in the field on the product I have this
Tee, Sweatshirt [+6.00], Hoodie [+8.00]

I have the base price of the item set to $10 (Tee) - if they choose Tee costs is $10, sweatshirt $16, etc

this goes into the shopping cart fine, adding the amount if selected to the price .. so a sweatshirt goes into the cart at $16 .. but if I hit the recalc button the price goes to $10 - it 'loses' the feature additional cost. Can someone test this and let me know if it does it for your cart?
