Has xsessiontimeout been taken out of Ver 7.0? We can't find it to make sure that it is set properly.

Hi there

This now needs to be controlled at the server itself. This needs to be set in IIS as the setting is now ignored by IIS.

Thank you.

I'm hosting with VP-ASP and it seems that session timeouts are quite short. What are the IIS timeouts set to for people hosted at VP-ASP?

Hi Eric,

I had a look at your site and it was for some reason still set to the default IIS timeout of 5 minutes.

I have bumped this up to 20 minutes for you.

Hope this helps!

Thank you.

I'm not sure if this is proper but it has worked well for us and a few other sites where sessions were being lost prematurely. We searched for hours/days to find this little code that we place at the very top of the shoppage_header page.

<%

Session.Timeout = 45

%>

Numerous checks gave us 45 minutes to sit and continue shopping. After 45 it lost the session. I think this can be set to any time. Server settings failed us every time. I would test extensively but it works for us.

This doesn't seem to work here. Put this into the shoppage_header as instructed, but after putting items into a cart and ignoring it for 20 minutes, came back to navigate the site and the cart was empited.

Had the timeout set for 60.

Any special spot this needs to be placed in shoppage_header?
