I have several affiliates that would like to offer customers coupons. Here is the problem:

If I allow them to us the couponentry.asp page, is there a way to set the affiliate? Because if the people don't order the first visit and come back a week later, they won't be tracked using just the regular link like this, correct?

shopcouponentry.asp?coupon=COUPON&returnurl=default.asp

Hi there

You just need to ad the affiliate ID into the coupon record. So when the coupon is used the order will be associated with the affiliate.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

We do that, but this is the problem. Some of the affiliates have coupons for certain items or categories, which don't apply to what they buy.

For instance, affiliate Jane has coupons for all the widgets on the site. A customer goes to the site looking at widgets, but doesn't see the right ones for him. Instead of buying the widgets, he buys sprockets, for which the coupon doesn't work.

Can we do something else, I know this is giving a few redirects, but would this work? It does log the coupon!

Thanks, Cam!

At this juncture, we are going to at least need to exchange Christmas Cards or something. ;)

Hi Summer,

That is a really good question! Were you able to get it to work using the link above?

If not it may just take a tweak of the code to allow everything to be registered in the session.

You can also set the affiliate details to remain on the customers computer using a cookie if you like. So even if the customer doe snot purchase straight away there is a good chance they will still be caught in the affiliate network once they do.

Thanks
Cam
