Hi!
Does anyone know how to add a field to the order notification email? I would like to have a field added for the customers to enter their po# and have that visible on the notification email that is sent after the order is placed.

Hi Catherine,

we use a very similar feature (version 6.50) where the customer can add a PO# at the confirm order page. To do this you need to add an extra field to the customers table and to the orders table in your database, say you call it CustPOnum. Then in your Admin Cart Setup find the following fields and set them as follows:
xcustomerotherfields = CustPOnum
xcustomerothercaptions = Your Ref No
xcustomerotherfieldsinorder = Yes (you need this in the order so that the customer can have this on their email confirmation)
xcustomerotherrequired = No (unless the customer must put something in here)

Then in your file tmp_customeremail.htm you can call this new field to show to the customer by adding [CustPOnum] to the template. If you are using other languages you will need to create a new language translation record for the caption in the customer forms eg langcustPOnum caption: Your Ref No

The only drawback to this is that the customer's last PO# is stored in the customer record and shows in the customer service details page.
