rather than having to maintain our sales/manufactuing database (pricing for 1000's of items) and then update the VPASP database when prices change, can VPASP read the prices from another database, SQL or ACCESS?

Hi there

You would need to do quite a few code changes but this could certainly be done. VPASp is open source so you can make pretty much whatever changes you like to achieve what you need.

Thanks
Cam

Are both sql databases? Do they share a common identfier ie. same product id or name? if so, this would not be that hard.

Split Database Setup Guide:
http://helpnotes.vpasp.com/shopexd.asp?id=392

here is Step 4 (you have to do the other 3)
Step 4.
Once you have split your databases, you need to let VPASP know where to look for the tables.

Log into your shop administration pages, and click on the Set-Up tab. (Note: your page formatting may look a little strange at first, but will be resolved once you tell VPASP where to look for the databases)

In the field name search box type db and click search.

Enter the names of the databases (without the .mdb extension) into their corresponding configuration setting - eg. xprojectdb = projects
