Would anyone know if you can call up content created in the content section? For example can I show the Aboutus text on the site by including it in my template with a tag or does the content have to be linked to?

We are trying to create a box on the site where we can show an advert by updating it using the CMS tool.

Thanks very much...

Custom formatting of products on shopdisplayproducts.asp

If you are using templates, then in VPASP version 6, you can define a separate template for displaying a product on shopdisplayproducts.asp.

By default, all products will use the tmp_productformat.htm template to format their appearance on shopdisplayproducts.asp.

If you have custom formatting requirements for any particular product, you could create a copy of this file, and modify the code to suit the formatting you require.

Save this new template file as a new file name. eg. tmp_productformat_new.htm

For each product that you want to display with this new formatting, you would enter the name of the new template file you created (tmp_productformat_new.htm) into the product's templatelisting field.

To enable using templates for product formatting, you need to ensure that you have xproductwithhtml set to YES in your shop administration Set-Up

Adding static text files to your templates

You can add static files to your templates to extend the amount of text you can display.

There is a feature called "INCLUDE" that allows you to reference a text file that sits somewhere on your server to display on the product templates.

Create a text file and call it "producttext1.txt"

Insert here some product text you would like to display on your product description page into this new text file.

Save it to your server.

Now open your template and insert the following where you would like to have the new text display:

[field=pother1 INCLUDE]

The pother1 field is a spare field in your database. It can be any field though within the products table.

Save your tmp_product.htm file.

Now open a product record in the database.

In the pother1 field enter the name:

producttext1.txt

Update your record and now view the product in the front end of the site in your browser.

The text will now display in your template.
