I'd like to be able to display my html pages for sub-categories from the left category menus instead of the default categories display. I thought I could do this with the category templates or from the content pages but the category templates function doesn't seem to work and the content "stuff" doesn't allow me to link form the left category menu. I'm probably missing something but I can't seem to figure out what it is. Anyone have any ideas on how to do this?

OK it looks like what I want to do should be able to be done with catextra but that doesn't seem to work. Anyone have any experience or ideas on how to get catextra to work?

Hi,

I use category formatting a lot and I don't seem to have any problems with this. At the moment we have special offer descriptions (cat Extra) at the top of our garden categories:

http://www.deanston-electrical.co.uk/shopdisplaycategories.asp?id=365

Here are the settings that I have in Cart Setup (v6.50)

Type in category in the Search box to find all category fields

xcategorydisplaytemplate - tmp_categorytemplate.htm
xcategorydisplaytext - Yes
xcategoryproductsonly - Yes
xcategoryproducttemplates - Yes
xcategoryusetemplate - Yes
xdisplaycategoryfiles - Yes (Displays Cat Extra file *.htm)
xdisplaycategoryimages - No (I didn't want images at the top)
xproductcategorylinks - Yes

This allows me to have different templates for products in certain categories, description headers at the top of categories and text displayed under the category images in shopdisplaycategories.asp

Hope this helps,

Carrol

Thanks Carol. Here's the answer I received from support which matches your (in effect). It appears I missed a setting.

"To enable the ability to use the catextra field to display additional information on your category pages, you need to ensure that the configuration setting xdisplaycategoryfiles is set to YES."
