Hi There -
Is it possible for a customer to type in a part # & still be able to order it if it hasnt been added yet? If there is an item requested & we dont have it in the data base - it shows "No products match your search" - can there be something that says a representative will contact you or something of the sort?

Thnx in Advanced!

Hi,

is the customer likely to be searching for a part # that you are aware of and will be stocking in the near future? Or are the part #s for items that you will not be including in the database?

If so, you could set up a product record to be included in searches which contains a list of part #s in perhaps the pother2 field. You will have to add this field to the xsearchfields in the Cart Setup. You could have the description as: This item will be available soon, or please contact us for details. I have done something like this for products that get discontinued, I set up 10 product records for this purpose, with all the ccode numbers in the pother2 field. It's better to let the customer know that a product has been discontinued rather than just telling them that it cannot be found.

Hope this helps,

Carrol
