Due to some reasons, I am using shopexd.asp to display my products.

Thus far, the product will only display catalogid on the page.

i.e. http://xxx/shopexd.asp?id= 129

May I know how to amend it so that it will display keywords + description too?

Thank you.

It sounds like you need to add the code to generate the dynamic meta tags in your shoppage_header.html file. There is a good explanation of this in the user manual, around page 16, titled "Dynamic Titles".

I have used VP-ASP for about 2 years now and found that the tool from BYZ for generating Keywords has helped the search engines index our pages much better and more accurately in a manner that was instantly measurable.

yep; the relevant config option is....

xdynamictitle set to Yes

that'll then make your header file show the product's keywords/description etc in the meta tag and window title (assuming your shoppage_header.htm file has the relevant bits in it, as per sean's posting), which, in case you don't have them, are:

<title><%shopdynamictitle "title"%></title>
<meta name="description" content="<%shopdynamictitle "description"%>" />
<meta name="keywords" content="<%shopdynamictitle "keywords"%>" />

so, that'll get them retrieved/working, but then, as per sean's posting, it'd be useful to enhance/auto-generate your keywords data which you could do with our keywords tool:
http://www.bigyellowzone.com/shopexd.asp?id=150

the keywords tool has another benefit other than seo, and that's that your searches will give better results when customers search for certain text (for example if they search on a string that relates to a category, then you'd get the relevant products)

There is another addon which might be useful for the search/display aspects, it's not needed to improve the keywords/queries as the keywords tool will do that if you have it properly configured, but it will do things like displaying hit-categories as well as the products:

I have already set xdynamictitle to yes.

I have checked my shoppage_header.htm that it has the code as stated in both your email.

shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=30&cat=Sony

Really do not know where the problems come from.

lucasw,

Being a user of the addons Simon mentioned - he is right on point w/ very accurate descriptions and benefits of using the addons he mentions.

I would double check to make sure:

1. have set xdynamictitle to Yes

2. you copied the code correctly to your header page:

<title><%shopdynamictitle "title"%></title>
<meta name="description" content="<%shopdynamictitle "description"%>" />
<meta name="keywords" content="<%shopdynamictitle "keywords"%>" />

If they are setup correctly I would raise a ticket with support or if you plan on purchasing the BYZ addons, purchase the installation service and I’m sure they will straighten things out for you too.
