We run the product import function daily to update our Online business with the prices and quantities in stock in our retail store.
We have attempted to do this on our server and since we have a large number of products it takes 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete and really slows down, or stops the shopping cart server.
So the better method is to download shopping400.mdb and run the import function on a local computer then upload the updated database.
However while we are updating shopping400 on a local computer customers are still shopping and when we upload the modified database it overwrites any orders that have been received during the update!

The only solution I can suggest would be to keep the products table outside of shopping400 so that the products could be downloaded, updated and re-uploaded without loosing any customer orders.

How many products do you have running in vpasp

Our Inventory module exports

ccode, cstock, cprice
and those are the only field I do a product import on

Canada Surplus a.k.a. AJ

We have about 2300 products online. We update the price and stock for items in the product table. The main problem is not how long it takes but rather when it locks up.

What kind of server are you hosting on? I've only done one product import so far on a linux box with ChiliASP and MySQL, but...

...over 11,000 products only took a few minutes to import.
